Bonus Points Christmas Party Refections

Okay, it’s been a while since I last updated the blog. I think the first blog post of the New Year should be a reflective one.

It’s been over a week since Josh has returned to Texas, but I never had the time to think about the things we did for the BP- Christmas Party. Now I think is a good time because it has been a week after and I can look back at all the things we did and give it a proper perspective without forgetting anything or letting the emotions get in the way of things.

First, let me start by just recanting all the things that happened starting with Josh meeting us at the airport to me seeing Josh off at the airport…

It all started on Sunday the 28th of December 2008, Josh’s flight was supposed to come in at 10:45 pm at LAX and I remember that we had to get to the airport earlier and I was pretty excited since we’ve been planning for this for months and it’s finally happening. We had some setback such as Josh’s relatives accusing us of being murderers and Annie not being able to join us till Monday. So I remembered being very glad and relieved that it has finally materialized.

We left for the airport around 8:30 since we had to go pick up Kit on our way. Kit, myself, Nick, Sir David, and Aaron went with us to pick up Josh at LAX. When we got there we waited around 30 minutes to 45 minutes before Josh actually got out of the plane. I have to say, it was kind of weird to see Josh for the first time. At first I didn’t know it was him. We made two BP- signs so Josh would know that it was us. I was holding one of them and I thought he would be coming down the escalator as most of the passenger did during that night, but there was this white dude wearing a blue sweater that walked down the stairs and he just stood next to us. It was somewhat of an awkward experience at first. I am a pretty shy and reserved person myself, although I did improve myself tremendously over the last five years or so. But sometimes when meeting strangers and whatnot you kind of fall back to your old self and that’s what I did at first. However, I quickly try my best to be a good host and treat him as a friend since we really have known him since he joined us back in February.

So we left the LAX airport and we started off towards Kit’s house and try to find something to eat because Josh was pretty hungry at the time. The ride wasn’t very comfortable for the folks sitting in the back because we took one car and there were six of us. David, Nick, Josh, and Aaron ended up sitting in the back and being very cramped. When we finally found a place to eat I’m sure they were very happy just to be out of the car. We found a place in Alhambra near Kit’s and I think it was called noodle house. It was an all nighter type of restaurant that took over an old Bob’s big boy building. I remembered ordering a noodle soup and I remembered Josh ordering some thin rice noodle soup that tasted like soap. Also, Aaron finally ate a lot which I was very surprised since he never ate a lot. After the dinner we went to take Kit home and then we drove back home to get some rest. We finally got back around 1 or 2 in the morning.
